I have to admit, I really wasn't into Youtube before. When almost everyone I know is recommending some funny YouTube video in Facebook, I was never really curious. Even in my previous workplace, my co-workers and boss go to YouTube for music, and I think it's just a waste of bandwidth when they could just download the songs and play them without affecting the internet speed. *Internet speed in the Philippines is really slow, I have something to complain about.*

But I was converted when I started watching Beauty YouTubers/Guru videos. I remember clearly that I searched for BB cream application and that's when I discovered the world of beauty vlogging (and blogging). It was also around that moment when I started my beauty blog, because I was hooked on everything beauty-related.

A year and a half later, I have quite a long list of subscribed channels. :D But here's my 5 favorite:

Jen | From Head To Toe

I started following Jen when I discovered her after searching for BB cream application online. I guess I fell in love with everything. She knows exactly what to do with her Asian hooded eyes, something I haven't found elsewhere in YouTube. I especially loved when she went to Korea for a vacation and for a month or so she had the "Korean Beauty" look which looked very youthful and cute.

Jenn | Clothes Encounters

Another Asian who is rocking it! Jenn is my fashion idol, although I don't have the same style as hers. She is more on the edgy, mostly back looks. But the way she styles herself, changing from edgy to comfy to classy is something we should all try to emulate.

Estee | Essie Button

Estee is a Canadian who's residing in England. She is funny. Her take on products is highly entertaining. I found her when I was searching for Revlon lipsticks swatches, and her video was so bright and light and amusing that I instantly fell in love.

Sinead | The Makeup Chair

Sinead gives the best tutorials in YouTube, in my opinion. They're concise yet so educational that I can't keep myself from checking her videos out because I know that they're worth my while and won't eat up my time when I don't have enough of it. She also does amazing transformations which look exactly like the person she's trying to look like. Among my faves are Megan Fox, Demi Lovato, and Belle of Beauty and the Beast.

Ingrid | Miss Glamourazzi

Ingrid reminds me so much of Lea Salonga, not only in looks but also with the way she speaks and her gestures when speaking. What I enjoy about Ingrid's videos is how she is easily relatable. She often have drugstore brands to recommend and her style - both in clothing and interior design - is totally relaxed yet stylish.

How about you guys? Who are your favorites on YouTube? Share them in the comments.

I have been traveling a lot this past year. Just this 2015 I have already traveled 4 times. Gahhh! And it's land travel by bus too. The longest was a 12-hour trip. The rest were 6 hours. :[ Oh, and I didn't count the trips back home.

So I just thought I'd share with you my favorite beauty products to bring when I travel. These are the basics that I need to look presentable when I arrive at my destination. I do however bring more than this (way more) like a couple lipsticks and an eye shadow palette.

So here are the 6 items I cannot live without when I travel:

Lip and Cheek Tint | Benefit Chacha Tint

A lip and cheek tint is handy for adding color to my lips and cheeks. I like the coral color of the Chacha tint because it doesn't look too bright on the cheeks but bright enough to be obvious on my pigmented lips. I also prefer tints and stains when I travel so that the color won't easily rub off when I go on food trips, which happens often.

Lip balm | The FaceShop Sweet Kiss Balm

Lip balms are a must! My lips are easily chapped by extreme weather like the arctic air conditioning in the bus and malls and the hot humid air outside when I am out and about. I have to prevent my lips from chapping by slapping on some lip balm every now and then. The pink color helps in making it look healthy too.

BB Cream | Etude House Precious Mineral Bright Fit BB Cream

Frequent traveling is taking a toll on my skin. Not only is a BB cream good at evening out my skin tone, it also has skin care properties, plus it has SPF 30 which is very important to prevent the skin from getting more damaged.

Face Powder | The FaceShop Lovely Me:Ex Powder Pact

I don't think I can live without powder. It helps keep the oil and sweat at bay so that I won't look too haggard when I feel haggard.

Eyebrow Pencil | BYS Brown Brow Liner

I can actually survive without doing my brows. It's just that having non-existent brows don't look good in pictures, and when I travel it's a given that I take a lot of pictures. I don't want to look back at these travel experiences thinking I look like an alien or something.
This eyebrow pencil from BYS is handy for travel because it comes with a brush at one end and both ends have caps so I can be sure they don't make a mess in my bag.

Oil Control Sheets | Unbranded from Daiso

For quick touch ups even when I'm literally on the road walking trying to find my way to somewhere I need to be.

That's my top 6 beauty essentials when I travel. I just realized I have a lot of pink stuff. :D
What are you essentials? Share them with me. :)

I don't think I've ever done an empties post before. Anyway, since I haven't blogged much last year, I have used up some products that I had every intention of reviewing but now I couldn't remember much of the details I wanted to go into. So I'll just make a mini review for each of these things.

Olay Total Effects Intense Moisture Face & Body Wash
Promises 7 benefits for younger looking skin:

  1. Deeply nourishes
  2. Softens skin
  3. Evens skin tone
  4. Improves bounciness
  5. Smoothens rough skin
  6. Brightens to revive tired skin
  7. Minimizes the appearance of fine lines

I enjoyed using this face and body wash especially when I travel because I don't have to bring a separate product to wash my face with. I have noticed that my skin has been more supple when I used this. What I don't like about this is it's difficult to rinse off (something I hate with cleansers) as it leaves a "moisturizing" residue on my skin. My sister also complains that it doesn't smell nice although I have no problem with it.

Kojie-san Cleanser + Toner Dual Action
I admit, my night routine isn't as similar as most routines I've watched or read online. I always wash my face whenever I get home, whatever time that is, let's say 7pm. But I don't follow up with toner and moisturizer right after. I would still have to prep for dinner, and eat, so I wait till I'm ready for bed before I put on the other stuff. Let's say I go to sleep at 1am. So I have accumulated some dirt and grease during that 6 hours of being at home.

That's where this Kojie-san cleanser and toner comes in handy. It's cleansing and toning at the same time so I don't have to wash my face again. :)

Another thing I like about it is that it doesn't sting my eyes unlike some other toners I've tried that seems like I'm applying rubbing alcohol on my face. This toner is gentle and it does clean properly.

Kensington Ablution Shower Gel in Wispy Jasmine
I bought this together with Fresh Waters of the Valley and made a review on that one while I was using it. This variant (Wispy Jasmine) differs from that one because it suds really well. Although I don't notice much difference in my skin. Just a typical shower gel that smells nice I guess.

Watsons Naturals Olive Hair Mask
The Naturals line from Watsons boasts of using more organic and natural ingredients and being paraben free. That is actually one of the reasons I picked out this mask, aside from it containing olive oil, because I've heard olive oil is good for the hair and I just want to my hair look better (don't we all?) :) This hair mask is good, although I guess I had very high expectations that wasn't met. So I'm moving on. I'm going to try the argan oil variant next.

Garnier Light Complete Night Restore
This is a repurchase but this time I took my time to finish a tube. I only use this on my spots to lighten them and it really works well. I have made a more detailed review the first time I purchased this.

Myra Vita Quench Dry Skin Lotion
This lotion contains Vitamin E beads which was nice to apply because it feels like exfoliating but the beads gets dissolved and absorbed into the skin. The lotion though was a bit thick for my taste and leaves a residue on my palms especially when I sweat. I do like the scent of this though.

That's all I can say and remember about these products. I still have a lot more to review. Lol. Another downside for taking a long hiatus. :D

I hope you enjoyed my post. Have a nice day.

That is one mouthful of a name, isn't it? :D Lip crayons are all the rage this past few years and new Filipino makeup brand Happy Skin made sure to include a huge selection of lip crayons in their line.

The name Shut Up & Kiss Me is a little enticing, but wait and see (or hear) the names of the lip colors in the line. My pick Just Say Yes was among the more subdued. ;)

My first choice was The Morning After, because I had hopes of it being my perfect MLBB; but sadly that one was out of stock, so I made a choice to pick this shade instead.

The Shut Up & Kiss Me lippies offers three-fold service: as gloss, as lipstick, and as balm.

This gloss/lipstick/balm in the color Just Say Yes is housed in a peach plastic crayon-type tube with beige markings and text. Pretty cute packaging. The product itself looks darker than when it is applied on the lips.

The swatch on my hand is still a little darker than when applied on lips. I do detect though a hint of a frostiness which I don't see on my lips - which is a little shine that isn't exaggerated.

Pigment is really good. That is just one swipe on my hand there. This is one of the reasons I wanted to try out a lippie from Happy Skin, because I heard the pigment is really good and I wanted to try an MLBB or nude shade (because I have more than enough shades of darker colored lipsticks). The reason I don't usually go for nude shades for lippies is because of my really pigmented lips. :/

And here's aforementioned pigmented lips wearing Happy Skin's Just Say Yes. :D The color is peachy-nude when worn. The natural color of my lips is still showing through though, but that is because I swiped a finger on it after applying the lippie. I find it a bit difficult to apply it perfectly from the tube despite it being in crayon form because it's so pigmented that it's so obvious when I went outside the line. The consistency is also creamy so it can pile a bit too thick if swiped too many times.

Don't get me wrong. I actually like this product. It's not everyday that I can rock a nude lip (I know, sounds funny). :D I had fears this color might wash me out, but fortunately it didn't. Now I can venture out with different looks, like smokey eyes or heavily kohl-ed eyes, and not having the lips compete for attention.

I have to say though that it is not moisturizing enough for me. I do suffer from chapped lips frequently and this lippie doesn't do anything in that regard.

Availability

Available at Plains & Prints, Beauty Bar and Happy Skin's online website. Price is P499.

Repurchase?

Maybe not this exact shade. I am still interested in The Morning After if I could find a stock somewhere. :) And I've heard that the darker shades are more moisturizing than the lighter ones, so I'm going to give those a try next.

The first hand creams I have ever tried are from this therapy set gifted to me by my sister last Christmas and was bought from Watsons. The set comprise of 4 tubes of hand creams in different scents: Ocean Bliss, Sweet Berries, Green Tea and Vanilla Passion.

The hand creams are moisturizing and are easily absorbed into the skin. They are not greasy in the slightest, which is sometimes my issue with using lotions. The scents (well, most of them are) mildly perfumed and aren't distracting.

The ingredients are the same between the 4 scents, so I'm guessing that the only thing that differs is the perfume, which on the label is just labeled perfume. These contain Aloe Vera and Vitamin E, which contributes to its nourishing aspect.

Among the 4 scents, it's Vanilla Passion that I loved best. Ocean Bliss came second and Sweet Berries came third. I'm sorry to say that Green Tea doesn't make it to my like list because the scent is a little overwhelming. A little too herbal I think.

I don't think the scents have any skin care benefits since they are just in perfume form.

Availability

Bought at Watsons last Christmas for around P100-P200. Might not be available off holiday season, since Watsons usually release gift boxes only during holidays. But will have to check it out again.

Repurchase?

Possibly. But I would love it if I can buy these per piece instead of by set. That way I could choose the scents I want.

What's your favorite hand cream? Would love to hear all about it. Share links if you have them. :)

I just want to share with you what I got last December. Some of this things I bought for myself, while others were gifted to me by friends and loved ones. Is it so obvious that beauty products makes me happy? :D

All of these products/brands are my first time to try them, so I'm quite ecstatic to try them out and give you my opinion. If there's any product among this list that you want to read about, just let me know. :)

From top left:
Oryspa Champorado Body Scrub. Oryspa is known to use rice bran as their primary ingredient and to use 100% organic ingredients in all their products. Champorado is a Filipino snack made of rice and chocolate (and sometimes milk). This body scrub is obviously made with rice bran and chocolate. So excited to try this out.
China Glaze in Champagne Bubbles and Tinsel Town. I've already made a post on Champagne Bubbles, and yet to post on Tinsel Town.
Hand Cream Therapy Set. My sis gave this to me after she read a comment I wrote (and was reflected on Google+) about my curiosity with hand creams. I'm trying out Ocean Bliss right now and it's so moisturizing.
Ellana Strawberry Vanilla Lip Scrub. I have an eternal dry lips problem and was wondering if lip scrubs would help. I've tried this once and wasn't very impressed.
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer. I got one in medium and it is perfect for my skin tone. It is creamy but isn't too heavy.
Happy Skin Shut Up & Kiss Me Moisturizing Lippie in Just Say Yes. Took me a very long time to choose this color. There's so many to choose from their site. This lippie promises a three-fold function: shine like gloss, pigment like lipstick and hydration like balm. I'll share with you my opinions in another post. This color is a rare choice for me since I usually go for red/berry shades. I am not that disappointed with this color.
Shiseido Medicated Baby Powder. I'm seeing a lot of people reviewing this product nowadays. So weird because I promise I didn't buy this just to jump on the band wagon. Saw this product at Zalora at a reasonable price. It promises to be effective against oil and that was basically enough for me to go ahead and try it out. I have been using this for a few weeks and it does feel like baby powder. :D
Wet n Wild in Walking on Eggshells. Heard so many good things about this eye shadow palette and I just thought it might come in handy.
Sweet Macaron Lip. This balm promises to make pigmented lips naturally pink again. Will let you know if this works on me.

Fashion

Just two big ticket stuff: a little black dress from Something Borrowed and a pink envelope clutch from Ezra. The LBD was what I decided on when I was searching for a dress to wear to an event (more about that dress search here). Too bad I didn't end up attending the event because there was news of a super typhoon then so I cancelled my plans on travelling.

This is how the dress looks like when worn. That's from the Zalora website. Lol, that's not me. I haven't worn the dress yet, but I am sure I would find another opportunity to wear it.

The envelope clutch was the perfect bag to bring when travelling. It easily fits in my bag without taking up much space. It can go from casual to formal just by detaching the wrist strap. It's also big enough to carry most of my necessities when I go out.

So that's all for my new beauty and fashion products for December. Who knows when I'll have another haul post again. Hahaha. :D December really is something else, isn't it? I'm curious to know what new stuff you're all testing out right now. :) Let me know in the comments, or leave your links if you've already posted about it. :) See you in my next post.

Merry Christmas everyone! It's 2:45 am here in the Philippines and I'm still awake after all the Christmas rush yesterday. :) So I wanted to make this short post about what I have on my nails. It's China Glaze's Champagne Bubbles. I only have one coat on and I like how it looks sheer in some angles. I'm sure it will be more vibrant with another coat but I like how the semi-sheerness of a one coat makes a gold lacquer more wearable. :)

That's all for my post today. For New Year I'm planning on wearing a silver nail lacquer, so stay tuned for that. :)

Hi! I'm back with a review this time and it's about the Etude House Blotting Paper Pact. You all know how much I suffer from oily skin, so blotting papers are essential to my makeup kit. So when I was at Etude House to buy another pack of blotting papers, I saw this "Blotting Paper Pact" and was both enthralled by the look of it and curious as to what a blotting paper pact could be.

Well, it was a big duh moment for me when I opened the box later on and discovered the answer to my question. It was blotting papers. In a compact. Complete with mirror and puff.

It was different and interesting though, so I was excited to give this a try.

Front
Back / Left / Right
Let's start with the box. It is pink with white and black design and font. The back and left side has Korean description while the right side contains the English description.

"This portable Blotting Paper Pact absorbs excess oil and banishes shine without disturbing makeup, leaving skin refreshed and matte all day long."

The compact resembles the design of the box, except it doesn't have any writings/descriptions at the sides and back.

When opened, you will see a puff with the Etude House logo and a decent size mirror.

Taking out the puff, you will see how blotting paper and compact are merged together. The sheet sticks to the puff via an adhesive that is also stuck to the puff. You can then press that puff to your face, to blot the oiliness away. You can also seek the help of the mirror to find out if you've missed a spot or something.

After blotting, or if you've soiled the entire sheet and need another, you just need to peel off that used sheet and press the puff back (with the adhesive side down) on the container where the sheets are (and where the powder is usually contained in a typical compact). It will then adhere to another sheet and you can easily pick one out without having to tilt the compact to dislodge the sheets.

What I don't find easy though is placing the puff back into the container perfectly every time, because I can't just slip it in or something, it has to be put in perfectly squared right on top of the sheets or else the top sheet will stick to it haphazardly and it will wrinkle because it will still have to be kept and fit in that square box.

My other dislike about the product: it is too bulky for my taste. I usually bring a packet of blotting papers in my back pocket when I go out on an errand. Most of the time I don't bring a bag, and with that my comb, compact (powder), lip balm. But I still bring with me blotting papers, just to make sure I am somewhat presentable still. The easiest way for me to retouch is to just blot. :) So with this blotting paper pact, I can't do that anymore, except maybe if I take out a couple sheets and put those in my back pocket, but that's gross.

I am thinking though of placing them in the old Etude House blotting paper envelope so I could easily carry them. And for this lovely compact, I'm thinking if maybe I could peel out the adhesive from the puff and use this to carry loose powder or something.

Will I buy this again? I don't think so. I like the old one from Etude better - Etude House Oil Control Film (I have a pic of that in this post). Why? For it's portability, for it's effectivity (those blue sheets are more effective than these parchments in my opinion), and it's price (cheaper than this).

So how about you? Will you try something like a blotting paper pact?

*On the front of the pact, there's a bluish stain there. I smeared stamp pad ink there with my thumb and I couldn't wipe it off. Just saying that that's not how it looks when newly bought.

How long has it been since I last posted? Anyway, I decided to make a short post just to get things rolling again. Hopefully I get to stick to a pattern and churn out posts on a regular basis.

Forgive me if I'm a little rusty with all this review writing thing.

Anyway, I got this lotion several months ago for my dry skin (I have dry skin for my body and oily for my face - which is weird). The scent is cherry which I have mentioned in previous posts as one of my faves, but I know several if not most people hate this strong scent.

This Jergens lotion is pretty thick and heavy. It really doesn't get absorbed much into the skin. I have tried it once while my skin was still damp and it felt like oil sitting on top of water. And it stuck onto my clothes when I put them on.

Pretty inexpensive at less than P50 for 100ml bottle {absolutely forgotten the real price by now}, but I won't be making this buy again. :D

That's all for my review. :D Nyahaha I told you it'll be short.

I've been browsing the Sophie Paris brochure when I noticed there are new cosmetics in the issue. I immediately thought, "Oooh, Sophie Paris is trying to catch up with the trends" since some of them looked like products that are popular right now, like a jumbo lip pencil or a trio blush.

I'm not sure if all these are mainstream products. Sophie Paris does have a tendency to release limited editions every now and then, so I decided to share these with you while they are still available. :D

Clockwise from top left:

  • Koshize Soft and Shiny Lip Pencil
Shea Butter and Vitamin E formula will give your lips high definition color yet with soft finish. Also comes with sharpener inside the lid.

Colors: Tangerine, Cherry, Chestnut, Almond
Price: P280

  • Sophie Make-up Palette
A must-have palette to prettify you day and night. Contains 18 eyeshadows, 2 blushes, 4 lip glosses, and 1 powder foundation for an easy touch up and look variation.

Price: P590

  • Sophie Magic Lipstick
Get naturally looking pink lips with this Magic Pink lipstick with moisturizing effect to prevent chapped lips.
(I'm assuming this has the same concept as the Magic Pink Cream which is one of their popular products.)

Price: P140

  • Koshize Trio Blush On
Tri-colored Koshize Blush On is perfect in highlighting your cheekbones giving a natural blush on your face. Use as 1-colored shade or combine all 3 for a brighter and fresher looking cheeks.

Colors: Satin Rosewood and Peachy Brick
Price: P360

As for me, I'm eyeing those blushes. The palette looks nice too.

That's all for my post. Thanks for reading. :)

This Anti-Sebum Cleansing Foam from Innisfree looks to be the answer to my facial oil problems. It effectively removes oils and keeps my face oil-free for hours. Unfortunately I am not loving it too much. Sometimes I feel it is a little bit too harsh that it also strips it of moisture.

And a confusion: The label says it is from Herbtea, with the brand name Innisfree also printed on it. I used to think Herbtea is a line from Innisfree, but looking at the website I can't find if it is true. It could be a collab product between two companies, so if anyone knows for certain, do enlighten me.

This cleanser contains the herbs thyme and mint. It has a very refreshing and cooling effect on skin but the scent is a little too overpowering, and I'm not even talking about a "yummy" kind of overpowering.

This is a big bottle at 150 ml, so there's enough to last months especially if you alternate this cleanser with another, probably a gentler one.

The label at the back is in Korean.

A pet peeve: messy caps and flaps. The cap of this product was designed to irritate OCDs out there.

The opening of the tube is smaller than the opening of the cap. And there is a gap between the two so product accumulates there. After squeezing some products in my hand, what's left inside the rim of the cap doesn't get suctioned back into the tube because the opening is smaller, it just stays there. So when you close the cap, the product oozes out and messes up the cap and its flap.

I used to clean it up every time, but I finally gave up. It's now covered all over with cleanser.

The cleanser has a "normal" consistency. It lathers fairly well and rinses easily. It doesn't leave any film or residue on my face. It does somehow makes my skin a little drier.

Availability

I bought this online at Hip Style Online Shop (Philippine-based). There isn't any Innisfree stores that I know, so any Innisfree products have to be bought online.

Verdict

I like that it removes my oils and keep me oil free, but I don't like that it's drying out my face. I have to use this only a few times a week or else my skin would get greasier, and that would totally beat the purpose of it. I don't like the scent, although I'm starting to get used to it now. Same thing with the cap. I've just learned to live with it.

When I'm done with this, probably in 3 more months, I'm not buying this again. :/

So that's all for my review. Thanks for reading. :)
